TERP RAPTOR is a student-led spacecraft mission at the University of Maryland, nearly two years in the making.
The mission aims to send a university-developed spacecraft to asteroid 99942 Apophis before its historic close approach to Earth in 2029. TERP RAPTOR will study Apophis through close-range observations, advancing our understanding of asteroids, planetary defense, and the capabilities of student-led deep-space missions.
Designed by students with support from University of Maryland faculty and mentors, TERP RAPTOR brings together expertise in spacecraft systems, propulsion, avionics, flight software, guidance and navigation, instrumentation, and mission operations.
